In June 2015, an amendment to House Bill 2136 formally outlawed cannabis social lounges and marijuana clubs in The Evergreen State, making it a class C felony “for any person to conduct or maintain a public place where marijuana is held or stored...or consumption of marijuana is permitted.”

In conjunction with the Washington Clean Air Act, HB 2136 has effectively shut the door on marijuana social clubs. However, hope lives on through Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes, who has advocated since 2014 for safe, lawful places where tourists and residents alike can comfortably consume cannabis products.
