Appearance

With no visible flaws to speak of, this sample was a dark rich green and was weirdly short on pistils, with only a few small reddish-brown hairs peeking their heads out of the calyxes.  Covered in an even and thick layer of trichomes, the green color looked much lighter to the naked eye than it actually was.  Despite being rather dry and just about perfect texture-wise, it was nicely sticky to the touch, which is somewhat unusual for Colorado strains it seems.  White it wasn’t extremely dense, it also wasn’t wispy, with snappy stems and a good structure overall.  Great job by the growers here, no issues whatsoever.

Aroma

As one would expect with such a strong-smelling parent strain, the Sour Diesel pretty much takes over the scent of this sample, with a sour citrus fuel/menthol scent that really blows up when ground.  It had some oddly sweet component that reminded us a bit of the “poo” or rotten fruit smell that Sensi Star often has pre-grind, but the pungency of the fuel, soil, and acrid citrus smells overwhelmed it somewhat quickly.  Very appealing in that “wow this will be powerful” kind of sense, and clearly above-average in pungency, this strain packed a mean aromatic punch.

Flavor

Very much like its smell, this strain’s taste was dominated by the diesel fuel, mentholated citrus, and soil with one reviewer noting a peppery hint as well.  Not very harsh, but above-average expansion-wise, it may make you cough a bit, but not because it burns your throat… it’s simply a lot of powerful smoke to take in.

Effect

(We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Energy, appetite stimulation, social stimulation, creativity, anti-anxiety, anti-depression, and mild pain relief.

Overall

Hong Kong is a Sour Diesel x Sensi Star cross; the same lineage as Bio-Diesel and Death Star by the way, this might be the best sample of the strain that we’ve come across.  Simply stinking with an acrid citrusy diesel fuel smell and packing that same power in the taste, this strain takes the user on an energetic and cerebral ride through their mind but encourages interaction with others and a great sense of overall positivity.  A simply superb choice for daytime medicating (especially on a lovely summer day), this strain will keep a smile on your face for nearly 3 hours and will especially do wonders for those struggling with their appetite.  This is our pick for the best strain available at Native’s Choice of Colorado, and I think their staff would agree… top-notch meds here in nearly all aspects.
