Legislation for medical marijuana in Maryland was enacted in May of 2013, under House Bill 180 and House Bill 1101, and later bolstered by House Bill 881 in 2014. The first dispensaries opened in December of 2017.

Under Maryland’s medical cannabis law, qualifying patients are legally allowed to possess up to 120 grams of flower and 36 grams of THC extract per 30-days. Recreational cannabis is illegal in Maryland
