Retail dispensaries are expected to open mid-2022, but are not currently open at this time. Dispensaries for medical cannabis are operational as of 2014, debuting with just six storefronts in the state. That number has almost tripled in the years since, with 9 nine opening in 2018 alone.
There are currently 4 producers licensed to cultivate medical marijuana in Connecticut. House Bill, No. 5389, sets out rules stating, “At any one time, the number of licensed producers shall be at least three and not more than 10.” State officials have determined that current supply for the market is amply met with just those four, but that more licenses will be allowed should demand increase.
