As of October 17, 2018, recreational cannabis is legal in Ontario and any adult 19 years of age or older is legally allowed to buy, possess, consume and cultivate recreational cannabis.

Ontario’s Government for the People was very diligent in their preparations for the legalization of cannabis and took many proactive steps to ensure all-around safety and prevent legal cannabis from negatively affecting the province’s people, children or roadways. In doing so, Ontario passed their own set of laws relating to the regulations surrounding legal cannabis with the fundamental structure of these laws being quite similar to the ones in place for tobacco and alcohol.
