Cannabis became legal in Nova Scotia on the Canadian federal legalization date of October 17, 2018. Adults 19 years of age are now legally allowed to possess, consume, purchase and grow cannabis.

In an effort to ensure the health and safety of the public, Nova Scotia lawmakers have created legislative framework for their respective legal cannabis industry. In addition to protecting public health and safety, the framework also aims to promote the success of a commercial cannabis industry in the province cannabis industry.
