Appearance

Covered in a moderately-dense layer of nicely-timed trichs, this sample appeared to be a medium green with slightly darker small leaves and dark orange/red pistils.  It’s certainly a pretty sample on the scheme of things, but wasn’t quite what we were expecting given the very elite lineage used in this cross.   It seemed to lack the super-dense trichome coverage of some of the other elite Kush strains that we’ve seen lately.  There was also a small white seed found in a calyx by one reviewer… but it was the only one we came across, indicating that it was probably a freak pollination rather than a hermaphrodite type of problem.  That said, it was still a nicely cared-for sample overall, with a suitable dryness and what seemed to be a good cure and harvest timing.

Aroma

“Smelliot” is an appropriate name for this strain, as it was extremely smelly and really impressed the review staff overall.  Pine, fuel, and menthol smells were the main ones, but there were also hints of grapefruit and the normal aromatic Kush smell in the background.

Flavor

One reviewer experienced exactly the same flavors taste-wise as was noted in the smell notes, but the other got a distinctly more “Kushy” flavor compared to the smell.  In any case, a pungent and pleasing combination of sweet Kush, pine, menthol, and soil was the package that the Smelliot offered, with soil being the dominant flavor on the aftertaste. It burned to a murky-looking dark gray ash with some white in it – maybe a 6/10 on the clean ash scale.

Effect

(We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  General relaxation, anti-anxiety, anti-depression, mood elevation, possible ocular relief, mild pain and tension relief.

Overall

While not on the level of some of the top-flight Kush crosses we’ve come across recently, this was still an excellent sample, especially considering the long duration and overall potency.  A strain that hits almost too hard at first, it gave way somewhat quickly to a very nice and positive mental state combined with a good amount of spacey yet useable energy that made our reviewers want to go lay outside in the sun.  A very good daytime strain, this Smelliot will also please all but the most ardent smell and taste-mongers, as it was nicely pungent and complex.  A few flaws with the grow and/or our specific sample caused it to be marked down slightly for appearance, but as far as we can tell, it didn’t affect the potency, which was top-notch.  If you see this strain while browsing at Verde, don’t hesitate to give it a try unless you really don’t like the Kush/Diesel flavor profile or can’t handle the initial craziness of this strain that is on the “extreme sports” side of MMJ.
