On June 26th, 2018, Oklahoma voters approved State Question 788, legalizing medical cannabis state-wide. The legalization of medical marijuana in the Sooner State was met with excellent reception from lawmakers and residents alike, resulting in Oklahoma becoming one of the fastest states to implement laws and guidelines for a regulated medical cannabis industry.

Overseen by the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) and the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA), Oklahoma’s medical cannabis market is now one of the largest in the United States and qualified patients are legally able to possess, purchase, cultivate and consume marijuana products to treat a variety of ailments. Unlike other states that have legalized medical marijuana, there is no list of qualifying conditions a patient must have to receive access. Patients who wish to enroll in Oklahoma’s medical marijuana program can receive a recommendation based on the opinion of a licensed physician in the state.
