Bedstuy Take Action Workshop

Cannaware Society, in collaboration with Bailey's Cafe, Emerge Law Group, Falcon Rappaport & Berkman PLLC, Vasquez Segarra LLP, THC Staffing, C.E.A.S.E, The JUSTÜS Foundation, SSDP, Curved Papers, Presto Doctor, Kreaky Products, and Rebel Minded Media, will host a Bedstuy Take Action Workshop on August 7th, 2022, at Bailey's Cafe - 324 Malcolm X Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11233.

This event is aimed at assisting individuals in communities that have been affected by cannabis prohibition. We will offer criminal justice and cannabis business assistance as well as resources to help people looking to get involved in the industry.

With the passing of the MRTA bill to legalize adult-use cannabis, New Yorkers have many opportunities to participate in the cannabis industry. The MRTA is a great start and initial blueprint for the legalized cannabis industry. However, there is a pressing need to adequately disseminate information about the different aspects of the New York Cannabis Law and how it affects New Yorkers.

Participants will have access to:

• Criminal Justice Assistance - Legal professionals will provide 1on1 consultation with individuals on how to address criminal convictions and information on overcoming collateral consequences that stem from having a conviction.
• Cannabis Business Assistance - Speak one-on-one with Business attorneys about starting a business in the cannabis industry. Learn about the different licenses currently available and how to apply for one.
• Cannacareer Resources - Get access to resources and services that can lead to an exciting new career in the emerging cannabis and hemp industries courtesy of THC Staffing. They will also offer the opportunity to sign up for a future THC Staffing Mentorship Cohort.
• Wrap-around Resources - Participants will have access to an assortment of resources including housing services, re-entry services, employment services, food services, health services cannabis legalization information, voter information, childcare, elder services, immigration services, and more. This workshop is one event in a series dedicated to restoring the lives of people who have been the victims of the decades-long prohibition of cannabis.
