The tiny town of Bearcreek (population>100) is named for the waterway Bear Creek, which once serviced a thriving coal mining community. When the coal mining operation took a turn for the worse, the population dwindled, leaving a small tight-knit community. Today, the town is uniquely popular for regularly holding pig-racing fundraisers at Bear Creek Saloon and Steakhouse. A few years ago, when the pig races were challenged by the horse racing lobby, it seemed like dark times for one of Bear Creeks' last draws. Instead, an ordinance was passed. Now, in Montana, pig races are allowed so long as a town has under 100 people. Bear Creek is the only such town in the state. Purchase some marijuana at a Break Creek dispensary and get hog wild.
