Very unique hotel filled with antiquities in the center of town. He had a nice hot breakfast the next morning. I liked all the personal touches the hotel had. The room was clean, although I did read some other reviews that indicated otherwise. Overall a good stay. Thanks!

The lighting in the hotel and rooms was insanely dim. The beds are the most uncomfortable thing I ever slept on. The hose to the shower head was cracked and you had to hold it just right for it to work. On the upside the breakfast was good.

One of the coolest old hotels I’ve stayed in. Very accommodating. Loved our stay!

Well, I read the reviews before I booked the place but figured I'd take a chance. Being close to the Steam Train made this very convenient. The first room I was shown was for a few hour engagement lets say (which I refused, it was pretty bad). The second one was better and we were tired at the end of the day so instead of riding up to Alamosa we stayed for the night. This is what we found.... the place really never felt Clean. The beds looked as if the sheets were never changed from the last overnight stay (I'd bet on it). I slept in my sweats and was glad i brought my own pillow. I didn't cover myself with the blankets that was for sure. Had to take a shower after being covered with cinders and coal dust from the Steam Train. We couldn't find any bar soap around. Only a pump soap container for your hands. Lucky we had shampoo to use but while in the shower, in the corner covered by the curtain was a broken bar of soap left behind from the last person who used it..... which was never cleaned up. I really hated to touch anything after those few incidents, never mind walk on the floor or sleep in the bed. I used a towel I had brought for a blanket to try and get some sleep. The breakfast was cold and I couldn't wait to leave. If you need a night sleep before or after the train ride go up to Alamosa. The next day we stayed at the Days Inn and was pleasantly surprised how clean it was for a Days Inn. I'm sorry to say that the town is run down and the only reason it seems to have some life in it was because of the Steam Train ride. The hotel building is unique in itself being built in 1911. It was a bank first, then a post office, then something else before it became a hotel. It's a shame the place has so much potential but only useful when the train runs. If the train was gone probably the hotel would go with it. Apparently the owners really don't care or can't afford to put any more money into it. I doubt they'd sleep in it for a hundred a night. The hotel is a nice idea but not worth the money or might i say the risk. I would have rated it lower but needed to be fair for its uniqueness. I'd never sleep there again and this review is the God's Honest Truth..... good luck.

This is a very old hotel that needs some work. Our room had no heating contol. The heating control was in the room next door. Luckly we did not need it. The air condition unit is a window unit and not very good. The hotel is very convenient to the train ride but not worth the price. Very overpriced and we booked on-line and were billed before we arrived which is a little unusual. The staff was polite and the breakfast is OK but the dinner ware and glasses are awful. I would not recommed this hotel or city. I should have gone a little further north to book a room
