Houston is named for the first leader of the Republic of Texas, Sam Houston. It’s also most famous for people telling the city they have a problem. The phrase was made famous by Tom Hanks in Apollo 13, due to NASA’s Mission Control being in Houston, though the line is technically off, or so they say. Possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana is now punishable by up to a $150 fine, and requires attendance of a “decision making” class, and no criminal record. The Low-THC medical cannabis available might not take you to the moon, but it’s a start in Texas.
