Qualifying patients are allowed to purchase medical marijuana only at registered Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MMTCs).


What forms of medical marijuana are available in Florida?

Previously, preparations of cannabis were restricted in the state to only allow pills, edibles, vapes and oil. However, the restriction of smokable cannabis was challenged in 2018 and ruled unconstitutional. In May of 2019, SB 182 was signed into law, allowing for smokable forms to be bought and consumed.


Can I share my medical cannabis?

No you may not. Medical cannabis is for qualifying patients only and is illegal to share with other patients or non-patients.


Can I smoke cannabis in public in Florida?

No. Public cannabis consumption in Florida is illegal and a punishable offense. Additionally, only qualifying patients are allowed to consume cannabis. Any non-patient caught consuming cannabis will be subject to fines or even jail time.


How do I get a medical marijuana card in Florida?

Patients with qualifying medical conditions must visit a physician to discuss being prescribed medical marijuana. A full medical history examination and physical examination is needed as well. It is up to the doctor to determine if the patient qualifies for medical marijuana. If the patient qualifies, they will receive a written certification.
