The Town of Garden City was founded as a base for salons and watering holes during prohibition in 1935. All the surrounding cities and counties were dry, but Garden City was happy to supply the demand from their thirsty neighbors. A similar situation exists today with both Greeley and Weld County banning recreational marijuana stores. Garden City is happy to serve the community with just a few recreational marijuana stores.
