Nevada City is the county seat of Nevada County, California, United States, located 60 miles (97 km) northeast of Sacramento and 28 miles north of Auburn. Nevada City was first settled in 1849 during the California Gold Rush, and originally named only Nevada, before the nearby state was established. “City” was added to the moniker later for clarification.
