Every recreational state has their own stand-out marijuana brands, and Washington State is no exception. The Evergreen state was the first in the country to legalize recreational cannabis, and there are plenty of hard-working, creative, and talented Washington marijuana growers who’ve been honing their craft since well before then. Whether you’re a marijuana-loving Washingtonian or a visitor looking to find some prime PNW pot, you’ll find no shortage of quality flower on dispensary shelves. However, with so many marijuana options, it can be hard to know what’s fire and what’s merely fair.

That’s why PotGuide is here to hype up some of our favorite cannabis brands in Washington State.

Kiona

Kiona produces artisanal weed on an industrial scale, specializing in rare heirlooms, landrace strains, and pure, hard-to-grow sativas. Kiona has perfected the process of sun-growing their crop in the living, native soil of Washington’s wine country. This creates well-nourished, botanically pure flower with the full expression of its genetic flavor and character.

Kiona’s Big Sur Hippie Weed has a thick, sweet smoke that’s soon followed by a life-affirming, floaty high, and their Uptown Piff provides the kind of energizing, hazey happiness that’s perfect for exploring the outdoors.

Best Buds

Big Sur Hippie Weed, Uptown Piff, Canguru de Oaxaca

Sweetwater

Sweetwater Farms is another grower that’s made a name for themselves across the state. They produce tasty, high quality flower grown in “living soil” that naturally breaks down essential nutrients to feed the plant’s root systems. These organic inputs naturally boost terpene production, which Sweetwater’s slow-curing process further brings out to produce clean, flavorful bud.

Sweetwater’s Tropicana Jet Fuel is a gassy orange delight that gets you hyped up and giggly, while their Primus will get you all smiley and stoney as you settle in for movie night.

Best Buds: Tropicana Jet Fuel, Primus, Purple Punch

Phat Panda

Phat Panda’s passion for cannabis and dedication to the grow has allowed them to blossom from a 30 person crew to one of the biggest growers in the state. At any point in time, you’ll be able to find 80 different cultivars being cultivated in their grow rooms, or on dispensary shelves all across the state.

Phat Panda’s Dutch Lady tastes of pine and sweet fruit and gives a cerebral uplift perfect for concerts, while their Point Break is a vanilla citrus smoke that’ll end your night happy before sending you off to sleep.

Best Buds: Dutch Lady, Point Break

Falcanna

Falcanna has one of the more unique stories in Washington cannabis. It was founded by a couple brought together by their twin passions of growing medical cannabis, and falconry. Starting as a medical cannabis delivery service opened on the Olympic peninsula in 2012, Falcanna soon took flight, becoming a highly-regarded grow operation. They’re known for producing artisan bud using natural growing methods, and biodegradable or glass packaging. Their marijuana company also funds their falcon rehabilitation and breeding center.

Falcanna’s Pacific Blue is an earthy, kushy smoke that’ll ease your worried mind, while their flagship Dutch Haze is a gassy, citrusy blast that provides a high-octane buzz that fuels you through your workout.

Best Buds: Pacific Blue, Dutch Haze, Tree Octopus

Natural Mystic Farms

Natural Mystic Farms combines cutting edge techniques with organic, sungrown methods to produce some of the highest quality flower in the state. By using special outdoor greenhouses with specially controlled shade panels, Natural Mystic Farms has finely tuned a light-deprivation method that allows their plants to flower to their full potential.

Natural Mystic Farm’s Gelato 33 is a high-energy mood enhancer with citrus, earthy, and sweet flavors, while their Kali Mist is another citrusy, earthy sativa that provides a mildly psychedelic balance of focus and relaxing perfect for artistic projects or musical appreciation.

Best Buds

Gelato 33, Kali Mist, GMO Sherb Crasher

Sirius Buds

Sirius Buds’ flower is grown on tiny Vashon Island, nestled in the narrow watery inlets of the South Sound region. Being a small grower means that Sirius Buds puts extra care into each of their harvests, hand-watering and hand trimming each plant. This dedication to small-batch production comes out in every strain Sirius Buds grows.

Their Super Lemon Haze has an especially strong sweet lemon burst with extra lively, happy effects, while their Dutch Thunder Fuck has minty pine undertones to its smoke and an invigorating, euphoric lift that remains chill.

Best Buds

Super Lemon Haze, Dutch Thunder Fuck, Orange Sunshine

Fine Detail Greenway

Fine Detail Greenway’s operation is located about as far North as you can get in Washington before hitting Canada, in the college town of Bellingham, WA. This small operation has put all their energy into growing craft cannabis, and the results have to be smoked to be believed.

Fine Detail Greenway’s Timewreck has a citrusy, earthy smoke and effects that live up to its name. In high doses, expect to have a great time, but don’t expect to keep track of it. Their Satsuma Haze is another stand-out strain that’s got a delicious, pungent, orange flavored smoke that crests into a motivating, uplifting body buzz perfect for doing chores or anything else requiring some extra oomph to get moving.

Best Buds

Timewreck, Satsuma Haze, The Cat’s Pajamas

Pacific Northwest Growers:

Located in Lake Stevens, WA near the port city of Everett, Pacific Northwest Growers has made a name for themselves by producing top-quality, craft cannabis. Pacific Northwest Growers doesn’t have a website, and prefers to let their bud speak for itself.

Their Tasty Waves is an earthy, piney blast of citrus flavor that becomes a delightfully intoxicating, carefree type of high perfect for dancing, while their Terp Diamonds is a flavorful mix of skunky, berry, and citrus that comes on quick with a fun high perfect for creative focus when you’re looking to put the opening or finishing touches on a project.

Best Buds: Acapulco Gold, Tasty Waves, Terp Diamonds

The Wrap Up:

Washington State has a long legacy of quality cannabis, and there are plenty of small and large grows out there living up to the Evergreen State’s stellar reputation. The next time you’re at a Washington dispensary, ask if they have anything from these growers. Or, see what the budtender says is their favorite. There’s always more to explore.
