When it comes to marijuana reform, successful and influential celebrities, CEOs, and politicians have the opportunity to help spread the word faster to mainstream media and consequently, the public.

Thankfully, there are a handful of these people in the spotlight who have openly expressed their support for marijuana legalization. Here are a few of our favorites:

1. Snoop Dogg

Snoop is well known for backing marijuana – from his public transparency of smoking it everyday, to rapping about it in many of his songs, to even pushing the White House to legalize it.  He’s especially supportive of the medicinal properties of the plant.  Eariler this year, Snoop Dogg invested in a medical marijuana delivery company based out of California called Eaze, and recently launched his own line of edibles and other products, now available in Colorado.

2. Steve DeAngelo

Often referred to as the “Jesus of Marijuana,” Steve has advocated for marijuana reform for over four decades.  After starting Harborside Health Center in California, his name and his brand have grown to represent education, compassion, safety, and quality medicine within the industry.  Steve has dedicated his work to change the way people think of marijuana and specifically continues to be the voice for those who have been locked up for simple possession charges across the U.S.

3. Joe Rogan

Infamously known for his public support of marijuana reform, specifically in multiple documentaries on the subject, Joe works hard to educate and change people’s perception of the plant. As a true advocate in the space, Joe continues to push legalization – especially within the UFC, where he’s a color commentator.

4. Bernie Sanders

Currently in the spotlight as he runs for president in the 2016 election, Bernie has embraced the fact that marijuana is a hot topic in the debate.  He publicly supports medical marijuana use and even admitted to consuming when he was in college.  His backing of legalization stems from his disdain for the War on Drugs, where many non-violent offenders have ended up in jail as a result of cannabis still being classified as a Schedule 1 drug in the U.S.

5. Richard Branson

Richard, the CEO of the Virgin Group, is a large supporter of marijuana legalization and was one of 100 prominent individuals who have publically teamed up for the cause. Similar to Steve DeAngelo, Richard is passionate about the decriminalization of the plant so simple possession charges are no longer an issue.

6. Seth Rogan

Best known for his comedic starring roles in mainstream movies including Pineapple Express and Knocked Up, Seth has always been a supporter of marijuana – both in use and overall legalization.  He consistently uses marijuana as part of the storyline in many of his films, and although many feature “stoner” characters, they all unite together to help push forward marijuana reform in a positive and comedic way.
