Montpelier is the capital city of Vermont, and holds the unique distinction of being the smallest state capital in America. Named after Montpellier, in the south of France, the small 8,000-person town captures the feel of a cultured French city (kept alive by The Vermont College of Fine Arts and New England Culinary Institute, no doubt).
