Purple Sour Diesel - Buddy Boy

This sample was comprised of compact, dense buds that are light green in color and moderately covered in trichomes that almost make the bud appear yellow. An inspection with microscope indicated that the sample was heavily handled as many of the trichomes were missing their heads. The few heads that were present were cloudy in color indicating the sample was harvested near maturity. Moderate pistil coverage suggests this particular cut is a sativa leaning hybrid strain. The sample was well trimmed with no excess leaves. Despite its name, there were no purple hues in the sample.

Overall a very mild smell profile that did not become pronounced until the buds were ground. Once ground, the mild fuel aroma that is consistent with sour diesel became apparent. There is also a hint of sweetness from the Purple Kush.

The taste was significantly more pronounced than the smell. This sample had a strong fuel/diesel taste to start. The sweetness from the purple begins to come through as you continue smoking. Perhaps the most analogous flavor profile is GG4 with that combination of sweet and sour. The taste continued to improve as the joint smoked, which is always a good sign.

Overall an enjoyable smoke, but it was harsh, which resulted in more coughing than usual. I had to take breaks smoking the joint because the smoke was irritating. There was a combination of black and white ash, indicating that the sample was not fully flushed.

The effects come on very quickly, as in before the joint is finished. First, the classic frontal lobe sativa buzz and then the slight body relaxation. That distinct halo/headband behind the eyes is what is most pronounced. This sample induced strong sativa effects to start and then becomes a more balanced hybrid. This strain is perfect for those that want to feel uplifted without the raciness or paranoia associated with traditional Sour Diesel.  This strain is great for pain management and relaxation.

This particular sample of purple sour diesel was an enjoyable sativa dominant hybrid that induces a relaxing head high.   Not as racy as Sour Diesel, the Purple Kush influence in this strain helped smooth out the effects.  This strain could be smoked in the morning or before bed (assuming you wait 30 minutes or so for initial effects to settle in).
