Hoping for a 2019 rollout of cannabis social lounges, Maine decided in January of 2018 to hold off on licensing social lounges until 2023. The delay shouldn’t be viewed as opposition to establishing legal consumption lounges by Maine lawmakers, though.

Maine simply intends to learn from other states first, such as Colorado and California, that are beginning to allow social consumption clubs. As other social lounges outside of The Pine Tree State prove to be safe and successful, Maine is very likely to begin drafting rules and regulations for their own cannabis consumption spaces in the coming years.
