In the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act, which allowed a six year pilot program to roll out in Illinois, public consumption is outright banned. Furthermore, the Illinois Smoke Free Act forbids smoking in almost all public venues and all rules outlined there apply to medical cannabis in addition to tobacco. As the pilot program is in its final years, there is hope for more wins for medicinal cannabis, including a legal space for patients to consume.
