On October 17, 2018, cannabis became federally legal in Canada – including Nunavut. It is now legal for adults 19 years of age and older to purchase, possess, consume and cultivate cannabis in Nunavut.

According to Nunavut’s cannabis laws, adults of age are allowed to possess up to 30 grams of cannabis flower or its equivalent in other cannabis products at any given time. To ensure a responsible cannabis industry and the safety of Nunavummiut, Nunavut lawmakers have amended existing territorial legislation to include cannabis as well.
