It isn’t always the cannabis that causes the paranoia consumers sometimes report, often it can actually be the fear of getting caught. Cannabis induces introspection; and, as a result, the deep-rooted fear of getting caught manifests itself as an overwhelming paranoia. If there weren’t a fear of getting caught, paranoia would likely be reduced in many people – especially the consumers in places without legalized marijuana. Sadly, many people have reasons to fear being caught using cannabis; it’s the most dangerous thing about it. Luckily, there are ways that people can discreetly hide their consumption habits by eliminating cannabis’ distinct odor. If you’re someone who is looking for a way to enjoy your cannabis under the radar, take a lesson from eons of consumers who have invented and used their own sploofs.

A sploof, in its most simple terms, is a tool that combats the smell of cannabis smoke or vapor. It cleanses the air, in a way, by washing out the scent of cannabis as the smoke passes through the cleaning apparatus.

Sploofs are great smoking accessories that come in handy for cannabis consumers.

From headshops to DIY methods, there are several different ways to obtain a sploof to use for discreet cannabis consumption. Ultimately, it’s up to the consumer to determine which sploof is best for their own particular needs. Consumers who want an easily disposable option might be better suited going the DIY route, while people who want a reliable, long-lasting product may prefer to purchase something a little sturdier from their local headshop. No matter what your reason for needing a sploof is, we’re here to help you understand more about these helpful devices and which one is right for you.

Why Do I Need a Sploof?

Keeping your cannabis hidden requires more than just hiding it in a shoebox under your bed (You should hide it better than that, for starters). When it comes to ensuring your cannabis habits are undetectable, you have to account for storage and consumption. Consuming cannabis brings a whole barrage of smells that are much more noticeable that those observed during storage. There is the smell in the air, the sight of smoke, what to do with the roach if you’re smoking a joint, the red eyes and the smell of smoke on the hands and face to name a few. There are many components to concealing the use of cannabis and sploofs are a great way to get help get rid of them all!

To prevent suspicion from afar while outdoors, or to keep the smell minimal while inside, a sploof is an absolute must.

Sploofs have been used by forest-dwelling and hotel bathroom-hiding cannabis consumers for years and they are a reliable smoking device that every consumer should know how to make themselves. Let’s look at how easy it is to make your own sploof.

How to Make a Sploof

The simplest sploof to make takes two things that are most likely already sitting around your house:

Basic DIY Sploof Materials:

  • 1 Toilet paper roll (clean)
  • 1 Dryer sheet

With these simple tools, there is an even simpler construction process:

  1. Crumple up the dryer sheet.
  2. Stuff the dryer sheet into the paper roll.

You now have a sploof! To utilize your new sploof’s incredible stealth abilities, simply exhale your hit through the paper towel roll right into the face of your closest friend. The smell of cannabis will be gone! Or, at least you’d hope so. When making a DIY sploof, there’s a chance some of the smoke will escape without being cleansed. To upgrade your homemade sploof, collect these additional items:

Advanced DIY Sploof Materials:

  • 1 Rubber band
  • 1 Additional dryer sheet

When you have your materials, follow these simple instructions to improve your sploof:

  1. Wrap the new dryer sheet as flat as you can around one end of your sploof, completely covering the opening.
  2. Hold the dryer sheet tight.
  3. Secure the dryer sheet with the rubber band.

You will now have an inner dryer sheet cleaning the smoke, and an additional layer that will catch any scent particles that escaped the first. Awesome Commercial Sploof Devices

If you’re not the DIY type or don’t want to keep remaking sploofs over and over again, it may be wise to invest in an actual sploof product. Many headshops carry commercial sploofs that are available for purchase by consumers, here’s a list of our three favorites:

Smokebuddy

Our number one recommendation for commercial sploofs goes to Smokebuddy. They come in every color imaginable and look a bit like a portable speaker, making them super discreet. For those who want personality and character in their brands, Smokebuddy sploofs also come in fun designs and they even donate a portion of their proceeds to charity.

With three different sizes, Smokebuddy matches any size lung and any level of consumer. They also sell some cool hats that’ll keep your head warm during the winter months hiding inside and concealing the smell of your cannabis.

Sploofy

While a bit more expensive and in fewer design choices, Sploofy has a durable and highly effective line of sploofs. Similar looking to a small microphone for podcasting, Sploofy is inconspicuous and not easily identifiable to the untrained eye. Plus, the advanced HEPA smoke filtration system completely eliminates any traces of odor and smoke. Even better, it has a comfortable mouthpiece, too!

GroovTube

Lastly, for a more compact device at a lower price, the GroovTube is one of the best budget choices for sploof users. It has a small price and its size is even smaller. In the interest of discretion, the GroovTube is the clear winner for our recommended sploofs.

Final Thoughts

While it’s unfortunate that sploofs have to exist in the first place, they provide a great service to cannabis consumers looking to avoid detection. And even though sploofs are a relic of the atrocious war on drugs and reinforce the idea that users should have to hide themselves, it’s worth it to make one or purchase one if you’re needing to be discreet. Despite the fact that sploofs keep cannabis consumers hidden, the laws in some places demonstrate the necessity of stealthy consumption tools, and sploofs are a great way to keep your cannabis habits a secret.
