Stress has a nasty habit of finding its way into our lives. And, though some stress can beneficial by inspiring us to act, if left unchecked, stress can have a profound negative impact on the body and mind.

There are many things you can do to relieve stress – meditation, exercise or even a good night’s sleep – and if you live in or frequent any 420-friendly states, there are even more ways to destress and pamper yourself thanks to the wonders of marijuana.

Here are a few of our favorite ways pamper yourself with pot:

1. De-stress with the perfect strain

Many cannabis strains can work wonders for racing brains that just can’t seem to slow down. Depending on the type of experience you’re after, an uplifting Girl Scout Cookie strain or a relaxing Northern Lights strain might be just what you need to nip that stress headache in the butt and get on with your day. Be sure to avoid any strains that are especially high in THC, though, as they may increase stress levels levels thanks to THC’s interaction with the amygdala, or the part of the brain responsible for emotions like fear.

2. Relax in a cannabis-infused bath

A warm bath is a natural way to induce relaxation because of the way it slowly raises body temperature (which can be especially helpful when you’re sick). Cannabis-infused baths can take your relaxing bath one step farther by helping reduce pain while increasing blood flow. Add some marijuana-infused bath salts to your next bath then kick it up a notch by adding marijuana-scented candles and a little Miles Davis to fully indulge in your little pamper party.

3. Nourish your skin with topical marijuana treatment

Marijuana topicals are great for relieving surface-level pain and inflammation, but have many other benefits as well. For example, topical cannabis can be used to treat skin imperfections like acne and cold sores as well as improve skin elasticity for a more youthful appearance. Additional applications for topical marijuana include migraine relief, burn treatment and increased sexual pleasure.

4. Indulge in cannabis-infused treats

Marijuana edibles come in a wide variety of treats sure to tickle your fancy. If you’re like me, then a little cannabis-infused chocolate or ice cream could be right up your alley. You can also find cannabis-infused drinks, mints, candies, granola bars, beef jerky and even pizza sauce. If none of these things appeal to you, then make your own marijuana edibles using decarboxylated marijuana shake and a lipid such as butter or coconut oil. The resulting canna-oil can be used in any of your favorite recipes to create the perfect cannabis-infused treat.

5. Relax at a cannabis-themed resort

There is no shortage of cannabis-themed activities and events in 420-friendly states. Whether you want to relax at the spa for the day, tap into your creative juices in a painting class or learn how to pair your favorite wines with complementary cuisine, you can find a 420-friendly version of it somewhere close to you. To find your ideal cannabis-themed resort or activity, check out the Pot Guide activity guide that corresponds with your state. We have listings in Colorado, Nevada and Washington.

We all need time to relax and recharge every once in awhile. Fortunately, those of us in marijuana-friendly states can take our pampering to the next level by incorporating cannabis into the mix. If you’re overdue for a much-needed break from routine, then why not pamper yourself with a little pot to make your break all the more rewarding?
